The original workshop had 25 spaces for participants, who were selected by the organizing committee. Postgraduate students (PhD and MSc), postdoctoral research fellows and early career scientists working in structural biology from around the world made applications.
At present we are confirming that all those accepted for the workshop still wish to attend the virtual workshop. The organising committee has agreed to consider further applications for the virtual workshop – so if you wish to be considered please complete the application form that is linked below.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own data and/or crystals to work on them under the guidance of experts, although this is not a mandatory requirement. All participants are required to present a poster in the poster session. Applications must be accompanied by a preliminary poster title and abstract, which can be revised in February 2021.
As this is a virtual conference no accommodation will be provided and there will be no need for subsistence and travel. However, given that the internet connections in Africa are somewhat tenuous arrangements will be made for students to use internet resources at their closest university, if necessary. It is anticipated that students will have access to a computer that will enable them to participate in Zoom sessions and communicate using Slack. The data collection and processing will require the installation of NoMachine.
To apply, please fill in the online application form, below. Applicants must include a letter of support from their supervisor or PI, which can be attached to the online application form or emailed to ccp4sa2020@gmail.com. Applications without a letter of support will not be considered.
The deadline for applications is 1 February 2021, and the selection results will be announced no later than 7 February 2021. Successful applicants must confirm their attendance no later than 14 February 2021. A limited number of scholarships will be available to cover the costs of internet access for those for whom there is no other solution.
